Mary Catherine Godwin

Mary Catherine "Cathie" Godwin, age 70, died October 24, 2020, at the VA hospital, Illiana Health Care Center in Danville where she had been a patient for several years. She was born December 3, 1949 at Jarman Hospital, Tuscola, to Merle L. and Ruth Mae Godwin of Allerton, Illinois.

She served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973 and was honorably discharged with the rank of E4. She spent several years at Hickman Air Force Base in Hawaii, where she met her husband, Forest Wilson, who preceded her in death. After her military service, she worked as a supervisor at Kraft Foods, drove a semi, and spent several years at the University of Illinois as a data entry clerk and program designer.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth Ann Bridgewater; brother-in-law, Frank Bridgewater; and nephew, Francis Bridgewater.

She is survived by two brothers, Raymond Edward Godwin (Nancy) of Williamsport, Indiana and David Wesley Godwin (Phyllis) of Urbana, Illinois; six nieces and nephews, Angela Anderson of Westfield, Indiana, Amy Dixon of Hoopeston, Illinois, Andrew Godwin of Wingate, Indiana, Kelly Brown of Urbana, Illinois, Benjamin Godwin of Friendswood, Texas, and Elizabeth Bridgewater.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements. Per Marys wishes she will be cremated. Burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery.
