Mary C. Wyer

Mary Catherine Wyer, 95, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:45am, Monday, October 24, 2016, at North Logan Health Care, Danville. She was born in Cayuga, IN, on June 29, 1921, the daughter of Ernest and Irene {Beaver} Newell. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Wyer on January 3, 1937, until his passing in 1979. She is survived by: her son, Marvin (Mary) Wyer of Georgetown; her daughter, Sharon Murdock; her grandchildren, Paula (Larry) Thompson, James (Sheila) Murdock, Timothy Wyer, & Mark (Lisa) Wyer; her great grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, & Ethan (Elizabeth) Wyer, Emily (Charlie) Powell, & Clay Thompson, Kimberly Crunk, Elizabeth (Ben) Rau, Michelle (Brian) Lehnen, Eric (Regina) Wyer, Lindsee (Jordan) Decker, Chad (Lisa) Rossiter, Tosha Rossiter, & Valerie Miller; and her 24 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Paul; her brothers, Hartzel, Forest, Fred, Kermit, Winford, Wayne, & Freeman Newell; her sisters, Ethel, Myrtle, & Gladys; her grandsons, Stephen Wyer & Kenneth Murdock; and her son-in-law, Billy Murdock; and one great grandson, Bruce Rossiter. Mary was a member of the Georgetown Church of the Nazarene. She was known to keep a neat and tidy home and loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and a fan of the Chicago Bears. She loved to go to her kids' games. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 28, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Pastor Garry Farris officiating. Visitation will be held 12pm-1pm Friday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
