Mary Jo Beckelhymer

Mary Joellen Beckelhymer, 66, of Covington, Indiana, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Born on September 26, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Barbara Livengood. Mary overcame many adversities early in life with remarkable grace and strength, qualities that would guide her throughout adulthood. Through those experiences, she built a warm and welcoming home and created a strong foundation for the family she cherished above all else.

Mary was married to the absolute love of her life, Jody Beckelhymer. Their relationship was a true testament to devotion and unconditional love. She was his entire world, and he was hers.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Mary poured her heart into serving her community. She worked until her very last day at Clingan Auctions & Real Estate. She especially treasured the opportunity to work alongside her sister, Liz, during the past several years. Throughout her life, she also worked at SteelGrip, IGA, and the Covington Public Library, where she served as the Children's Librarian.

Mary found joy in life's simple pleasures: spending time with family, celebrating everyone's “15 minutes of birthday fame,” walking Sugar Creek in search of Indian beads, finding treasures at garage sales, playing glow BINGO with friends, and volunteering to help those less fortunate. She possessed the patience of steel, a contagious laugh, and a quiet strength that served as an anchor for those she loved.

Her legacy lives on through her devoted daughters, Christina Beckelhymer (Seth Hayman) and Heather Lewsader (Justin), both of Covington. She was a proud and loving Mammy to her three beloved grandchildren, Keeley, Kendrix, and Isaiah Lewsader, who loved her beyond measure.

She is also survived by her sisters, Brenda Livengood, Liz Fuller (Tony), Lori Kiger, and Kim Thomas; along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Waiting to welcome her in Heaven were her beloved grandson, Caleb Starkey; her angel babies; her mother, Barbara Livengood; her mother-in-law, Artith Barker; her father-in-law, Max Beckelhymer; her cherished grandparents, Edgar and Lora Forrest; and several beloved cousins.

The family extends their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Ryan Sowers for once again being there in a time of need. They also wish to sincerely thank the local EMS, police, and fire departments for their tireless efforts, compassion, and dedication.

A private celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date.
