Mary B Korb

Mary B. {Spires} Korb, 70, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 1:03am, Friday, October 5, 2012, at Provena USMC. She was born September 27, 1942, in Sidell, the daughter of Clarence "Slim" and Imogene {Owens} Maring. Mary first married Paul E. Spires on December 21, 1963; he preceded her in May of 1997; she later married Leon Korb on August 19, 2000, he survives; also surviving: two sons, Jim (Heather) Spires and Greg (Rebecca) Spires, both of Ridge Farm; two step-sons and four step-daughters; sixteen brothers & sisters; and several grandchildren, as well as, several great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers & sisters, and one step-grandson. Mary had worked at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman as a cook for 14 years, also for the Zenith Company in Paris and Chicago Molding Plastic Factory in Georgetown. She was a member and treasurer of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. Mary had a passion for cooking and baking for her family and friends; "Nobody's cooking was as good as Moms." She enjoyed paint by numbers and puzzles as well as, watching American Pickers, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with Leon. Most of all she loved her family and grandkids. A celebration of life funeral service for Mary Korb will be at 10:00am, Monday, October 8, 2012, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-6pm, Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery.
