Mary Ann Young, 77, of Danville, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 peacefully at home. Mary Ann was born on June 24, 1932, in Danville, IL, to Anna (Timm) and Erich (Jack) Klein. She graduated from Danville High School in 1950. Mary Ann married John Richard Young on September 2, 1951, in Danville. They raised two sons, R. Stanley and Robert Allen, during their 58 years of marriage. Surviving are her husband, John of Danville; her son, Robert (Ruth) Young of Champaign; her daughter-in-law, Candice of Glen Ellyn; four grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Young, Lauren (Kevin) Wright, Kimberly Young, and Lucas Young; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Marie and Madelyn Grace; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Sandra Young, and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Mihm. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Klein, and her son, R. Stanley Young. Mary Ann worked at Palmer Bank and at Depke Welding as a bookkeeper. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, an avid homemaker, and an excellent seamstress and cook. Mary Ann enjoyed taking care of her family and friends and was an active, lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville, IL, 61832. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 N. Bowman, Danville, IL, with Pastor Daniel Fienen officiating.
