Mary Ann Shuman

Mary A. Shuman, 74, of Covington, passed away at 10:45am, Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at her home. She was born on December 31, 1946, in at home in Perrysville, Indiana, the daughter of Walter Frank and Lola Pearl {Acree} Powell. She was united in marriage to Jerry Wayne Shuman on July 3, 1965, until his passing on April 11, 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Roni (Darren) Taylor of Covington, IN; her four grandchildren, Jerry W. (Shayla) Shuman III of Covington, IN, Jenifer L. Shuman of Missoula, MT, Amanda L. Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, & Addison N. Taylor of Covington, IN; her four great grandchildren, Laban, Lynix, Luca, & Launa Shuman of Covington; her daughter-in-law, Linda (Brian) Cohen of Kingman, IN; her brother, Fred Powell of Crawfordsville, IN; her sisters-in-law, Debra Sandefer of Stringtown, IN, Sharon Lappin of Covington, IN, & Patricia Powell of Hillsboro, IN; her brothers-in-law, William Shuman of Killeen, TX, & Tony (Linda) Shuman of Wallace, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry W. Shuman Jr.; her brothers, Bob, Pat, Donald Wayne, & Richard Powell; her brothers-in-law, Bobby Gene Shuman & David Lappin; and her sister-in-law, Judy Gayler. Mary graduated from Perrysville High School in 1964. She was a very devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosiers fan. With a love hate relationship of the game, she was a bowler for 46 years. Most days she could be found soaking up the sun on her porch while watching the birds. A celebration of Marys life will be held at 11:00am (est), Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm(est), Monday, August 23, 2021, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.
