Westville – Mary Ann Howell, 93, of Westville passed away at 3:44 AM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. She was born February 15, 1932 in Perrysville, IN to Clyde and Idalene (Bailey) Pritchard. She first married Charles Nelson with which she had three daughters. She then married her husband of 42 years on May 20, 1973, Richard A. Howell. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2016.

She is survived by two daughters, Deena Hutson of Covington, IN and Debra (Larry) Saunders of Danville; two step-children, Willie (Debbie) Howell and Sandy Skates; and a son-in-law Audey Lake; grandchildren, Anjoelina (Isaac) Anderson, Mark Shadden, Terra (Josh) Nord, Brandi (Matt) Carl, Amanda Mezo, Doug (Amanda) Howell II, Michael Baszis, Todd, Oliver, and Angie Phillips, Halle, Shannon, Ryan, and Travis Skates, and Heather and Christopher Howell; many great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren; a brother, William Pritchard; and special nieces and nephews, Matt, Jody, and Julie Beckelhymer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lake, step-sons, Doug and David Howell, a sister, Artith Baker, three grandchildren, Timothy Bodine, Mary Beth Hutson, and Cassandra Lake, daughter-in-law, Judy Howell and a son-in-law, Oliver Skates

Mary Ann was born in Perrysville, IN, but grew up on the banks of the Wabash River. She worked at Hurletron Inc. and was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. Mary Ann especially loved her church and got great comfort from it. She was a member of the ladies Eunice society at the Lutheran church, and enjoyed going to luncheons with her lady friends from Hurletron. Mary Ann loved her pets and spending time outside flower gardening. Later in life she also enjoyed watching her TV shows and working on Sudoku puzzles.

A service to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Howell will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 E. Main St., Danville, IL 61832. Pastor Michael Ruhlig will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday prior to the service, also at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. Memorials in her name may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter or to Hospice Hearts Animal Rescue at www.hospiceheartsanimalrescue.org.
