Bismarck- Mary Ann Gress, 84, of Bismarck was pronounced dead at 9:30 AM on Monday, August 15, 2011 at her home. She was born on August 30, 1926 in Alvin to Louis and Mary Ingram Felgenhauer. She married William Robert Gress in Hoopeston on December 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2004. She is survived by two daughters, Diane (Robert) Schultz of Danville and Tamara Davis of Evanston, IL; sister Betty (Harry) Whimpey of Danville; 5 grandchildren, Alan (Julie) Schultz, Annette (Phil) Hummel, Aaron (Brenda) Schultz, Tianna (Joseph) Davis, Amber Davis; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Ruth (John) Dill and Alberta (Robert) Lusk. Mary was a graduate of Alvin High School and went on to earn a degree through Brown Business College. She began work at FMC Canning in Hoopeston and then at R & S Printing. She retired from Walgreen's Accounting in Danville. Mary and William often enjoyed square dancing, even when they moved to Florida where they stayed for 19 years. Mary loved to sew, and had even sewn all of their square dancing attire. She also was involved with making crafts after she returned to Bismarck. Most of all though Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Gress will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, August 18, also at Sunset in Danville.
