Marvin Richard Bell

Marvin Richard Bell, 73, of Mahomet passed away peacefully at home with his family on Thursday, December 22, 2022. He was born April 21, 1949, in Danville to Milton and Betty {Carter} Bell.

Marvin is survived by his four children, Alisa (Justin) Lamb, Nathan (Amy) Bell, Katie (Josh) Bell Scheuring, Kendra (Bradley) Anderson; significant other Debbie Newsome and her children Quinn and Kyle Waller; grandchildren Brayden, Ashton, Macey, Maddie, Lincoln, Zoey, Kendall, Amelia, Emmitt, Aurora; brothers Maurice Bell, and Melvin Bell and the mother of his children, Nancy K. Bell.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

After graduating from Mahomet-Seymour High School in 1967, he attended the University of Illinois to obtain a degree in Agronomy. He was a Veteran of the United States National Guard and a member of the Masonic Lodge 220 of Mahomet. He raised his family in Mahomet and was deeply devoted to serving his community as a farmer, school bus driver, and softball coach. He found joy in running kiddie tractor pulls, hot air balloon chasing, pulling tubers behind the boat, coordinating Champaign Ski club trips, skiing, and updating ball fields. He didn't know a stranger and constantly bragged about his children and grandchild to others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853. A Celebration of Marvin's life will be held at 10 am on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Mahomet Methodist Church 1302 E South Mahomet Rd, Mahomet, IL 61853.
