Marvin G. Thornsbrough, 92, of Danville passed away peacefully on September 24, 2018 at Gardenview Manor Nursing Home in Danville surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville, IL on May 26, 1926 the son of Orville and Mable (Holycross) Thornsbrough. He married Shirley Ann Hasenbank on October 22, 1955 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2011. Marvin will be deeply missed by his children; Pam Hacquet of Danville, Karl (Cheryl) Thornsbrough of Oakwood, Kurt (Debbie) Thornsbrough of Catlin, Marvin Thornsbrough of Danville, and Amy (Scott) Eisenhauer of Danville, one brother, Tom (Ruth) Thornsbrough, nine grandchildren - Tammy Klugow, Cheri Hancock, Blake Thornsbrough, Drew Thornsbrough, Nikki Thornsbrough, Marc Amore, Alexis Julian, Alyssa Julian, and Kirsten Thornsbrough, ten great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers; Erville and Carl Thornsbrough and two sisters; Mary Ellen Eaton and Thelma Smith. Marvin served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent from 1944-1946 and again from 1952-1962. He worked as a grain operator at Lauhoff for 32 years before his retirement in 1996. Marvin loved his children and was always involved in the things they were doing. He spent time playing games with mom and doing whatever she told him to do. He enjoyed his every day meals at Cahill's, visiting the church and school, and watching the Weather Channel, sports, news, and game shows. Marvin was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. He wore many hats at Immanuel including; Elder, Communion Assistant, Usher, School Board, Choir and Men's Bible Study member. A celebration of Marvin's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville with Pastor Michael Heidle officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. He will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.
