Martin 'Marty' Brant

Martin Marty Allen Brant, 70, of Tilton, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Martin was born on May 24, 1937 in Danville, the son of Jim and Opal (Nabors) Brant. He married his high school sweetheart Donna Lee Butler on December 21, 1990, in Bismarck, Illinois. She survives. He is survived by Francis C. Brant of Tilton, Illinois, mother of Martins two children- Michael (Kelly) Brant of Tilton, Illinois and Mark (Cindy) Brant of Springfield, Illinois; one step-son- Tom Waddell of Georgetown, Illinois; and two step-daughters- Lisa (Split-Log) Waddell of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Gay Lynn (Gabbard) Waddell of Danville, Illinois. Martin has been blessed with many grandchildren and will be missed dearly by all of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Terry, and his son Mark Allen Brant. Martin served in the United States Army from 1956-1958, serving in Japan. He worked at General Motors from 1968 until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Masons and UAW Local #579-Tilton Plant. Martin loved to go fishing, hunting, and work in his garden. A Celebration of the Life of Martin Marty Allen Brant will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
