Martha Ruth Burke

Covington- Martha Ruth (Bowman) Burke, known lovingly as Ruth passed from this world at 7: 45 am, Sunday October 19th, 2008. Ruth was born December 17, 1924 in Miami County Indiana to James P. & Elizabeth A. (Carson) Bowman. Her parents, one brother, and two sisters preceded her in death. She is survived be one sister Mary J. Riggle of Peru, Indiana. In her youth, Ruth contributed to WWII efforts by filling in vacated factory jobs, left empty from boys going to fight the war. She later studied nursing at Good Samaritans School of Nursing in Kokomo, where she graduated in 1951 with a degree in Nursing later to become an RN. She married Lowell O. Burke on June 10, 1954. He survives along with three sons: Dennis L, Donald J., and Dean E. Burke; also surviving are six beloved grandchildren: Darius, Johanna, Daniel, Eric, Daren and Keith Burke. In 1962, she and Lowell moved the family to a small farm outside the town of Covington. Where together they owned & operated the Speedwash LaundroMat inside the town of Covington. A private family service will be held at Sunsets Covington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made to The American Heart Association.
