Martha Mae Hanson

WESTVILLE - Martha Mae Hanson, 79, of Westville, passed away at 1:23pm, Thursday, October 11th, 2007, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. She was born on September 16th, 1928, in Westville, the daughter of William and Ethel (Crippin) Shannon, both deceased. On August 23rd, 1947, she was united in marriage to Roy Hanson at First Congregational Church in Westville. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August of 2007. Martha will be missed by: her husband, Roy of Westville; her sons, Craig (Nancy) Hanson of Kingwood, TX, & Keith (Ronamae) Hanson of Malania, Philippines; and her three grandchildren, Matthew Hanson of Texas, Jennifer Hanson of New Haven, CN, & Andrew Hanson of Texas. Martha graduated in 1946 from Westville High School. She worked at the Illinois States Attorneys Office for six and half years. She was a volunteer with the Faith in Action Program and a member of the Eastern Star. Martha enjoyed all kinds of crafts, gardening, and traveling with Roy through out the United States, Europe, and Asia. A celebration of Marthas life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 15th, 2007, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, IL. Pastor Bob Cornell has been asked to officiate her service. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. A visitation will be 3pm to 6pm on Sunday, October 14th, 2007, at the funeral chapel also. Memorial donations may be given in Marthas name to the American Breast Cancer Foundation or the Faith in Action Program.
