CHAMPAIGN- Martha Louise Talbert, 91, of Champaign, formerly of Danville, passed away at 12:25 am on Thursday May 2, 2013 at Bickford Cottage Assisted Living Facility in Champaign. She was born on September 7, 1921 in Newell Township to William and Cora Linne Clapp. She was married to Raymond Edward Talbert on September 7, 1946 in State Line, IN Newell Township Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2000. She is survived by her daughters Jane (Errold) Jackson of North Ft. Myers, FL and Judy (Chuck) Gillins of Villa Grove; a brother, Clarence "Pete" (Doris) Clapp of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren Jason and Justin Zander; Jack, Richard, and James Lingrel, Angela Buchanan, Shaun and Timothy Gillins; she is also survived by her 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruth Roderick and Alice Cox, her three brothers Frank, Henry, and Arthur Clapp, and her infant son. Martha was a valedictorian Bismarck High School 1939 graduate, and then chose to serve her country in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. Martha worked in the shearing department at Tee Pak in Danville, we she retired after 25 years. Martha was also a past member of State Line Methodist Church and the GAO Grotto Cauldron. A service to celebrate the life of Martha Louise Talbert will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Stephen Diehl will be officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Wednesday May 8, 2013. Cremation rites will be accorded prior to the services.
