Martha L. 'Teal' Chew

Cayuga, Ind. - Martha L. 'Teal' Chew, 89, of Cayuga, passed away at 9:45 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana.

She was born May 19, 1931 in Newport, Indiana the daughter of the late Roy D. and Fern (Burke) Foreman.

Teal married Donald L. Chew on November 19, 1960 at Lindsey Chapel Church in rural Cayuga. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2015.

Survivors include two sons: Dennis (Connie) Chew of Cayuga, Indiana and Dean (Debbie) Chew of Covington, Indiana; three grandchildren: Hannah (Chad) Belser of Cayuga, Indiana; Bethany (Zach) Jumps of Pittsfield, Illinois and Riley Chew of Covington, Indiana; two great grandsons: Bowen and Dawson Belser; two sisters: Connie Clark of Lafayette, Indiana and Ruby Schilling of Rushville, Indiana; two brothers: Kaye (Chris) Foreman of Perrysville, Indiana and Carl (Thelma) Foreman of Danville, Indiana; brother-in-law: Duane Hawkins of Plainfield, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

Teal was preceded in death by her infant daughter; twin granddaughters: Katherine and Jan Chew; three sisters: Norma Pueschner; Carole Hawkins and Juanita Julick, and two brothers: Roy Foreman, Jr. and Louis Ray Foreman.

Teal formerly worked at R.C.A. in Indianapolis and later at the former First Citizens State Bank in Newport, Indiana. She was a member of the Lindsey Chapel Church in rural Cayuga. Teal was a 1949 graduate of Newport High School. She enjoyed gardening and following her grandchildren's sports activities.

Funeral service with social distancing guidelines: Noon EDT Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the Cayuga Christian Church Youth Center; Officiating: Pastor Ramona Trover; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday, July 22, 2020 until time of services at the Youth Center. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
