Danville- Martha L. Marty Lewis, 74, went peacefully home on May 25, 2011 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Marty was a lifelong Danville area resident and attended both Danville and Henning Schools. She is survived by two children, Robert Schlunaker of Fort Wayne, IN and Janice (Bill) Nelson of Danville. She was the daughter of Homer B. and Leota (Massey) Spangler who are deceased. She married the love of her life, Bill Lewis on November 18, 1966 in Danville. He preceded her in death. Marty is also survived by two brothers, William C. (Margaret) Spangler of Boones Mill, VA and Tom Spangler of Georgetown, and a brother-in-law Bob Williams of Pekin. Her sister Verna Williams, sister-in-law Sue Spangler, and brother-in-law Jack Lewis and his wife Marie all preceded her in death. She was loved by several grandchildren, step grandchildren, and great grand children, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marty had worked at several companies in Danville and retired from Time-O-Matic having developed long lasting friendships where ever she worked. She will be remembered by her many friends and family for her ability to brighten your day with her reason, quick wit and being a true friend. A service to celebrate the life of Martha Lewis will be held at 4 PM on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Batestown United Methodist Church in Danville. Pastor Patti Wise will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30 PM prior to the service on Friday. Burial will take place at a later time at Danville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at Colonial Manor Nursing Home and/or Provena Hospice. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
