Martha Jean Trosper

Perrysville, Ind. -- Martha Jean Trosper, 80, of Perrysville and a resident of Ben Hur Home in Crawfordsville, Indiana for the past 2 years, passed away at 11:20 a.m. EDT Friday, September 26, 2008 at Ben Hur Home in Crawfordsville. She was born September 2, 1928 in Scotland, Illinois, the daughter of the late Jesse Cleveland and Goldie Myrtle Smith Lawson. She married Warren Eugene "Gene" Trosper on January 17, 1947 at the home place in Perrysville. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1990. Also preceding her in death are two sisters, Maxine Southern and Hester Boyd; four brothers, Joe, Dallas, Carroll and Oren Lawson; son-in-law, Joseph H. Williams. Survivors: one son, Steven Gene Trosper of Perrysville, Indiana; one daughter; Renata Jean Williams of Perrysville, Indiana; three grandchildren; Todd Eugene (Kamalu) Williams of Perrysville,Indiana; Veronica Teresa Grimes of Lebanon, Indiana; Kathleen Denise Fresses of Crawfordsville, Indiana; four great grandchildren; Timothy Eugene Williams, Sierra Michell Grimes, Brianna Harley Grimes and Robert Jamal Fresses; one brother, James Edward Lawson of Danville, Illinois. Martha was a 1946 graduate of Perrysville High School. She received her LPN degree in1964 from Danville Junior College. She work at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in Surgery and the former Lakeview Hospital in Surgery/Laboratory Department, retiring in 1992. She was member of the Christian Union Church in Perrysville, Illiana Home Ec. Club, Perrysville American Legion Auxiliary Post #350 and Royal Neighbors of Perrysville. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading. Martha had a pen pal from 1942-1995 in England and she enjoyed visiting with her in England. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Monday, September 29, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Grover Williams; Burial: Danville National Cemetery, Danville, Illinois; Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. EDT Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the funeral home.
