Danville - Martha Jane West, 79, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2015 at 5:49 a.m. in Danville. Martha was born the daughter of Sanford and Maude Scarlett on November 24, 1935 in West Point, Indiana. Martha married her sweetheart John West on July 18, 1953 in Danville. The two enjoyed a wonderful family life until his passing on July 11, 2007. Martha is survived by her children Kathy (Vernon) Peck of Lilburn Georgia, Jacqueline “Suzi” (Michael Sroufek) West of Tilton, James (Noreen Curry) West of Danville, and Connie (Doug) Housley of Haslet, Texas; her siblings Floyd Scarlett of Jones, MI, Lucy Rowlen of Harrisburg, IL, Ann Baker of Osceola, IN, June Nozykowski of South Bend, IN, and John Scarlet of Elkhart, IN; her grandchildren Mindy (Peyton) Hobbs, Ryan Peck, Brandy (J.W.) Martin, Sarah Ruggles, Jerrod Ruggles, Jessi (Patrick Alblinger) Lomax, Jacob West, Jaymi (Phil) Polezoes, Catherine (Sheldon) McClain, Sara Arlington, Madison Curry, Stevie Housley, Jordan Housley, and Dylan Housley; her great-grandchildren Logan, Kendall, Josiah, Emma, Jackson, Quentin, Annabell, Hunter, and Alexanderia; and her extended family. Martha is preceded in death by her parents Sanford and Maude, her husband John West, baby daughter Cindy Lou West, and sister Louella Melville. Martha worked at General Electric, Stanray Boats, and at the Windbreak factory in Danville. She was known for her many hobbies, which included playing bingo, traveling with her husband John, crocheting, dancing, camping, and taking bus trips. She had a love for crane machine games, and would always winning stuffed toys for her grandchildren. Martha also attended auctions occasionally and became a collector in her later years. Martha will be missed greatly by all that knew her. A celebration of Marthas life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 24, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home in Danville. Visitation will be from 4 pm - 7 pm on Friday January 23, 2015. Wade Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
