Martha J. White

Martha Josephine White, 95, of Danville, died on April 4, 2022, one day short of her 96th birthday. She was born April 5, 1926, in Danville, IL, the daughter of John and MaryAnn (Lengvinas) Grites. She married William H. White on August 24, 1948, in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters (Dorothy, Johanna, Veronica, and Genevieve) and two brothers (Charles and Felix). Martha is survived by many Holycross, Pierce, Potter, and Grites nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Martha was proud of her 35-year career as a nurse, with most of those years as a surgical nurse at the VA Hospital here in Danville. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Martha was a bowler and an avid sports fan; she especially loved the St. Louis Cardinals!

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Danville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to mass. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Marthas name to Holy Family Catholic Church.
