Martha J (Frerichs) Bruns

Martha J. Bruns, 91, of Gifford, IL passed peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Country Health, Gifford.

She was born October 12, 1932 in rural Ogden.  She was the last surviving of 11 children born to William and Margaret (Osterbur) Frerichs.  She married Edgar Bruns on January 15, 1952 in Ft. Devens, MA.  He preceded her in death on September 20, 2015.

She is survived by 2 sons, Roger Bruns of Paxton, IL; Dave (Pam) Bruns of Gifford, 2 daughters, Jackie Roelfs of Rantoul; Karen Bruns of Gifford, 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 7 brothers, 3 sisters, a son Steve, a grandson Jared, a daughter-in-law Ardiss, and a son-in-law Robert.

Martha was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gifford.  She was homemaker and loved her family and everybody elses!

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 on Saturday at St. Paul’s.  Rev. Gary Maxwell will officiate.  Burial will follow at Beckman Cemetery, Thomasboro.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s or Country Health.
