Marlene Fay Cornell

Georgetown – Marlene Fay Cornell, 85, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:30 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home. She was born April 5, 1940, in Whiting, KS, to Lee Roy and Neva (Howes) Davidson. She married Raymond H. Cornell on February 22, 1968, in Danville. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2024.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Myong), Bobby (Rob), Teresa (Rick), Vickie (Nick), Sherry, John (Amy), and Fred. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Tammy, Chloe, Eddie, Neva, Neven, Brittany, Taylor, Marlena, Skyler, Jaidyn, Cassie, Zakery, and Hanna, 26 great-grandchildren Leila, Kayden, Penelope, Elijah, Macey, Hunter, Jerall Jr, Brylee, Sybella, Brady, Trayton, Scarlett, Camden, Angel, Isabella, Sophia, Charlie, Gabriel, Abigail, Elara, Arius, Hailey, Alainee, Aubrey, Mandolin, and Melody, great-great grandchildren Gavin, Elise, and Salem, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings, Fred, Jennie, Theola, Arlene, and John.

Marlene was a homemaker who spent much of her time caring for her seven children. When she had the opportunity, she would never pass up a dance with her husband, Raymond. In recent times, she liked playing games at home on her tablet and cuddling with her two dogs. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

A visitation for Marlene Cornell will be held from 12 – 2 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rossville Cemetery immediately following visitation. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
