Marlene Ann Gombert, age 74, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at her home in Danville, Illinois. Marlene was born February 9, 1934, in Hammond, Indiana. She attended Douglas Elementary School and was employed at Work Source in Danville. Marlene enjoyed working and spending time with family members and friends. She especially enjoyed birthday parties and gatherings at Christmas time. Marlene is survived by her son, David Joe Gombert of Danville; one sister, Louise Daugherty of Fairfield Glade, TN; three half-sisters, Nina Wyatt of Georgetown, Kathy Butcher of Tilton, Pat Romant of Westville; and one step-sister, Joan Kondracki of Georgetown. Marlene is also survived by nieces and nephews in Danville, as well as in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Iraq. Marlene was preceded in death by her father, William C. Gombert; her mother, Antoinette V. Flora; her brother, William Joseph Gombert; a half-brother, Christian (Butch) Gombert; and a step-sister, Barbara Jean Purvis. A memorial service in honor of Marlene will be held on Friday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
