Mark D. Aquino

Mark D. Aquino, 52, of Rankin passed away at 8:35pm on Friday September 12, 2008 at the Hoopeston Regional Health Care Center. Mark was born on August 10, 1956 in Danville the son of Henry and Shelby Garmon Aquino. On February 2, 1991, he married Beth Malloch in Champaign at the home of her parents. Proud veteran, who served 12 years with the United States Marine Corp. Mark was a retired Sergeant from the Champaign Police Dept. During this time, he received the Medal of Valor, and numerous commendations. He was a member of the Champaign Police Pistol Team, was selected to the Governors 20 many times, Top Gun and the Second Chance Shoot. Mark was still active as a Master Fire Arm Instructor at PTI in Champaign. Mark loved his family and their home in the country, which included the horses and dogs he especially enjoyed. He also loved his motorcycles and anything with a saddle. He was a trivia buff on music and westerns, and could tell you about every character on the western movies he so enjoyed. Mark was the loving husband of Beth; and father of Adam Lee Aquino of Danville, Robert Paul (Tracie) Trotter of Champaign, Jessica Lynn Trotter of Champaign, Amanda Sue Witt of Danville and Rico Lee Aquino of Rankin; proud grandfather of Ellaina and Sophia; dearest son of Shelby and the late Henry Aquino; dear brother of James M. (Lisa) Aquino of Bismarck and John R. (Pam) Aquino of Danville; fond nephew, uncle, and cousin of many. His father Henry and his best friend Sgt. Steve Douglas preceded him in death. The family will receive friends now thru Saturday September 20, 2008 when they will host an open house starting at 2:00pm. to celebrate Marks life at the family home. Cremation rites have been accorded per his wishes. Memorials in Marks name may be made to the family to trust for Rico or Carle Hospice.
