Everett "Mark" Carley, 69, of Danville passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 7, 2023. He was born in Danville on December 4, 1953 to parents Harris and Sonna Carley. Growing up he attended Potomac schools, where he still holds the middle school shotput record to this day. He then continued his education at DACC where he received his associate degree in computer programming.
Mark married the love of his life, Kathy Murphy, on September 18, 1976 in Danville. Together, they raised three children. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and son. He was over the moon when he became a grandfather and enjoyed traveling to see his grandkids play sports throughout the past years. Mark always had an athletic talent. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, even going as far to get drafted by the Royals and was featured in the book The Magical Season of the Macon Ironman. Just ask around to his friends to fill you in on one of his many baseball stories - Finding the homerun ball in the cemetery across from the Potomac school or heading to the plate without even carrying a bat.
Mark retired from Hyster/ NACCO after 40 years of dedicated service where he met several of his lifelong friends. Retirement afforded him the opportunity to watch NASCAR, play golf with his friends, travel more, visit grandkids, and even take his bucket-list trip to Italy just this past year.
Mark is survived by his wife Kathy Carley of Danville; his mother Sonna Carley of Potomac; and children Justin (Kim Brown) Carley of Peoria, IL, Patrick (Amy) Carley of Danville, IL, and Sara (Andy) Berg of Ferdinand, IN. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Connor, Cole, Emmie, Maisey, Maxwell, Drew, and Claire; his special aunts Betty and Barbara Jean; and his special cousin Susan. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Harris.
