Mark D Caldwell

Mark D. Caldwell, 84, of Rantoul passed away Tuesday evening (Nov. 5, 2024) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born May 19, 1940, in Johnsonburg, Pa., a son of Hudnell and Lula (DeLong) Caldwell. He married Sharon K. McNamara on Oct. 22, 1975, in Paxton. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2021. He is survived by four children, Tami Caldwell Finke of Carmel, Ind., Shurrel Brantley of Rantoul, Malissa Vincent of Rantoul and Matt Caldwell of Rantoul; two sisters, Dawn Rovnak of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Thyra Caldwell of Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Kayle and Kelsey; and eight great-grandchildren, Bryer, Karley, Alyson, Cayden, Izayah, Jordyn, Brayden and Ruby. He was preceded in death by seven siblings and a son-in-law, Tim Finke. Mark was a 1958 graduate of Rantoul Township High School. He was an over-the-road truck driver for over 40 years. He was a Master Mason. He loved to read westerns and was a big supporter of grand and great-grandchildren’s activities. Nothing brought him more joy than his family. There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul, with Masonic rites at 5 p.m. In true Mark fashion, please wear your comfy clothes. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Sepulchre, Rantoul. Father Joel Phelps will officiate.
