Mark Allen Showers

Mark Showers of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed peacefully on July 7th, 2024 surrounded by family.

Mark Allen Showers was born in Danville, Illinois to Calvin and Eleanor Showers on August 13th, 1959. Mark attended Schlarman High School, class of 1977 and has his associates in Police Science from Danville Area Community College. He had 29 years of service with Danville Police Department, serving from 1982 until 2011. Prior to his career in law enforcement, Mark was a 911 dispatcher for 4 years.

While with Danville Police Department, Mark was a field training officer, passing along his passion and knowledge of law enforcement to new officers. For 4 years, he also served as the Unit 11 PB&PA Police Union president, advocating for his fellow officers, along with membership on the Pension Board.

Although his career centered around law enforcement, Marks life passion was his family. Mark enjoyed boating, camping, and attending swim meets for his two sons, Thomas and Cody, whom he loved very much. Mark also enjoyed making his wife, Kathy, smile and laugh, every chance he got.

Mark is survived by Kathy Showers (Childers), whom he shared 40 beautiful and fulfilling years with, along with Calvin Thomas Showers (Ashley) and Cody Allen Showers (Angela). Mark also has the honor and privilege of watching over and protecting from above four beautiful granddaughters, Audrey, Lenora, Everly, and Charlotte. He is also survived by one brother, Calvin Michael Showers (Kerry), and two sisters Nancy Taylor and Judy Tennant (Mike).

Mark is preceded in death by one older sister and his parents, Calvin and Eleanor Showers, who greeted him with open arms when he returned to their side.

Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, Illinois with visitation on Tuesday, July 16th from 5pm-7pm and funeral on Wednesday, July 17th at 10am with entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.
