Marjory Jeanette (Stedman) Lewis, 82, a long time resident of Vermilion Grove, IL passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Manor Court Nursing Home in Peru, IL. Marjory was born August 11, 1925 in Taylorville, IL and was the daughter of Augusta and Edgar Stedman. She married her husband of 62 years, Isaac Everett Lewis, on April 21, 1946 in Georgetown, IL, residing in Vermilion Grove, IL for 60 years before moving to Liberty Village, Peru, IL in February, 2006. Marjory was a graduate of Georgetown High School. A lifelong member of Vermilion Grove Friends Meeting, she taught the High School Sunday School Class for many years and served as the Meetings secretary & treasure until she retired in 1996. She was a member of the local Womens Society and Home Arts Clubs as well as Vermilion County Homemakers Extension. Marjory was a homemaker and enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, working in the community, her family and farming with her husband. Marjory is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, William Stedman, Donald Stedman, Russell Stedman, and 3 sisters, Mildred Glass, Leon Farmer and Elizabeth Stedman. She is survived by her husband Isaac, three sons, Jack (Ellen) Lewis of Harrodsburg, KY, Mark (Melba) Lewis of Eagan, MN, Dan (Claudia) Lewis of Spring Valley, IL, a daughter, Mary (William) Grubbs of Lacey, WA, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Marjory will be remembered for her banana bread and chocolate chip cookies, kitchen table talks, and most of all for her caring, compassion and never ending support for her family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 " 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown, IL. Service and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Vermilion Grove Friends Church. Pastor Jim Walker will preside.
