Marjorie Mae Manganello, 85, of Georgetown, went to be with her Lord at 5:28 p.m. Friday August 29, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on January 31, 1923 in Carroll Twp. IL the daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle Sherman of Georgetown, IL. She married Eugene Manganello of West Pittstown, PA on August 18, 1942. He preceded her in death on XXX 1981. They had three daughters, Donna Jean Dowers (Dale) Self of Marion, IL, Mary Margaret (Jim) Martin of Hillsboro, IN, and Rose Ellen (Duaine) Ramey of Veedersburg, IN; seven grandchildren, Patti Harlow, Susie Tuggle, Evan Dowers, Lena Dowers, Scott DeWeese, Marie Brown, and Shane Piatt; several great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Don (Shirley) Sherman, Lynn (Hilda) Sherman, and Lee (Roseanne) Sherman, all of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Carol Sherman. She lived in many states (including Alaska) with her daughters and husband while he served in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years. After retiring, they settled in Georgetown, IL. Marjorie was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Georgetown. She was very active as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She held several positions in the United Methodist Women and was on the church Board. Marjorie loved singing in the choir, served on the Central Illinois Conference for many years, and served as Membership Conference Chairperson. Marjorie loved her church and enjoyed helping in many activities. She loved working with her church family. She worked for the community on the Election Board and the Georgetown Fair Association. She loved doing volunteer work, Home Extension, and other activities and services. Mom loved spending time with her family, sewing, gardening, and bowling. She will be sadly missed.
