Marjorie Jackson, a nearly life-long resident of Perrysville, IN, passed away at 7:05 pm Friday, April 3 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, IN at the age of 81. Marjorie was born August 13, 1927 in Danville, IL to Russell and Lillian Cundiff. She married her husband of 52 years, Charles (Bill) Jackson, on October 16, 1948. She is survived by one son: Jerel (Karen) Jackson of Bismarck, IL; one brother: Warren (Sheila) Cundiff of Covington, IN; two sisters: Ruby (Jack) Holmes of Henderson, Nevada, Phyllis Hutchison of Rolla, Missouri; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Ann and Jim Knight of Attica, IN; two grandchildren: Robert Peavler Jr. of Danville, Christi Bell of Westerville, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Leighton and Caleb Peavler, Lyndsey, Lauren and Zachary Bell; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother. Marjorie graduated from Perrysville High School in 1945 and lived most of her life in Perrysville, where she worked for many years as a clerk at the Perrysville Post Office, retiring in 1989. She also worked for a few years as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward in Danville. She loved working in her yard, sewing, and making all sorts of different crafts. Marge was a big Country Music fan and enjoyed numerous trips to Nashville, Indiana to see some of her favorite County singers. She also enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas to visit her sister. It is reported that, on more than one occasion, she was actually seen putting money in slot machines at local casinos. She was also especially fond of her morning visits to the Handy Mart to have coffee and visit with all of her friends. She was a member of Christian Union Church near Perrysville. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the loving and caring staff at The Waters of Covington for their concern and caring through a very difficult time. Services will be held at 11 am EST on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Sunsets Covington Chapel at 420 3rd Street in Covington, with Reverend Dan Huffine officiating. Burial will be at Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville. Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm EST at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Marjories name to the Alzheimers Association.
