Marjorie Holderbaugh, 96, passed away Friday, Feb. 7 in Washington, MO. She was born Anna Marjorie King on August 22, 1923 in Central City, KY. She moved to Princeton, IN with her family when she was a child, where she graduated from Princeton High School. She met her husband Leon (Dee) Holderbaugh after he returned from the service. They were married in 1948 and had two children. The family moved to Danville, IL in 1961 and Marjorie lived in the same house for 50 years. She moved to Washington, MO in 2011 to be near her family.
She is survived by her children Peggy and Lindell Morgan of Washington, MO, and Donald and Kathy (Riggleman) Holderbaugh of Arlington, TX. Three grandchildren Chris and Cathy Morgan of Washington, MO and Ryan (Lisa) Holderbaugh of Arlington, TX. One great-granddaughter Lindy Holderbaugh and two great-grandsons Andrew and Travis Bergin of Arlington, TX.
Marjorie loved to grow her own vegetables, flowers, and maintain her yard. She was an avid reader and went through boxes of books a month. She loved to sew her own clothes and embroider by hand her sweatshirts. At one time she had around 200 sweatshirts! She was in a card club for many years and attended church every Sunday at Northland Christian Church and Second Church. Her favorite thing to do was sit in her swing on her screened-in porch, drink coffee and visit with her neighbors.
Marjorie was proceeded in death by her parents Elder and Katherine King of Princeton, IN. Her two younger brothers and sister-in-laws Whalen (Lois) and JD (Mary) King of Princeton, IN. Her husband Leon Holderbaugh and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marjories life be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery.
