Mrs. Marjorie Hagen of Kingston, Georgia, and formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed away on October 27, 2020 at the age of 84. Marjorie was born on October 10, 1936 in Beaverville, Illinios. She was the daughter of the late Ansel and Leona (Dionne) Arseneau. "Marge" was married to the late Norman Hagen for thirty-one years.
After graduating from Illinois State University in 1958 she began what would be a thirty-five-year teaching career spanning three Illinois high schools, focusing on Home Economics. Marge belonged to the American Vocational Association, Illinois Vocational Association, Illinois Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Association and was a life member of the NEA.
In retirement, she put her home economics skills to good use knitting caps for newborns and sewing receiving blankets for the Danville hospital, as well as providing sewing services for elderly residents at a local retirement home.
After the death of husband, Marge moved to Georgia to live near her youngest sister. She maintained a busy travel schedule in retirement visiting all fifty states and several foreign countries. In her free time, she enjoyed working outdoors with extensive flower gardens and an annual vegetable garden at her home in Kingston.
Two brothers, Bernard and Richard, precede Marge in death. Survivors include sisters Pauline Servin of Apache Junction AZ, Audrey Arseneau of Tularosa NM, and Anita Bell of Kingston GA. Additional family includes step-son Mark (Barb) Hagen, Alexis Hagen step-granddaughter, several nieces, a nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Father Loftus. Burial will be in the Danville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St Marys Catholic Church Restoration Fund at PO Box 152 in Beaverville, IL 60912 or Church of the Holy Family at 444 East Main Street in Danville, IL 61832.
