Marjorie H. Carter, 83, of Danville passed away at 6:50 a.m., on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Provena USMC. She was born January 24, 1926 in Danville, the daughter of Earl Jenny McAllister Rumbaugh. Upon Jennys death, Cornelia Rumbaugh became Marjories loving mother. She married Mr. Jack Henry Carter, Sr. on September 21, 1946 in Danville. He preceded her in March 2006. Marjorie is survived by one son; Jack Carter, Jr. of Champaign; two daughters, Cathy Thomason of Danville and Cindy (David) Weaver of Catlin. Her two brothers, Earl Rumbaugh, Jr. of Danville, Glenn D. Covert of Manteno and one sister, Marigene Hutton of Hoopeston. Her eight grandchildren, Jay (Dara) Thomason, Scott (Linda) Thomason, Brian (Shannon) Weaver, Brad Weaver, Blake (Angie) Weaver, Amanda Brooke (Paul) Weaver, Nicholas Carter, and Christopher Carter. Eleven great-grandchildren, Isaac, Brendon, Kaleb, Ella, Dalton, Grayson, Karley, Brayden, Brody, Logan, and Aubrey. Her parents, husband, Jack Carter, Sr., and one sister, Anna Jane Catlett, preceded her. Marjorie worked in the Unclaimed Properly Division in Springfield, IL in the Unclaimed Accounts Department. She had also previously worked at Meis Brothers in Danville. Marjorie was a member of the Lady Fire Auxiliary of Danville, the Danville American Legion where she was a past president, and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, and spending time with her family. A celebration of life for Marjorie will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street with internment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009, and again from 1pm until time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Marjories name to the Alzheimers Foundation, Salvation Army, and or the Boy Scouts of America. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
