Marjorie Klaman Denman, 84, died at 8:30 a.m., Sunday May 27,2007, at her home. She returned home May 25 after being hospitalized since April 5 in Indianapolis. Marjorie Ann Klaman was born April 29, 1923 in Danville township, the only daughter of Franklin and Anna Hayman Klaman. A lifelong resident of the Danville area, she had been a member of St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church for 72 years. A member of the Danville High School Class of 1941, she also graduated from Illinois State Normal University (1944) and the University of Illinois (1980) with degrees in education. After teaching one year at Abraham Lincoln Jr. High School in Bloomington and three years at East Lynn Township High School, she spent the duration of her teaching career, 27.5 years, in the Danville district #118 Schools; she taught at Douglasn Lincoln, Franklin, Northeast, Grant, South View, Roselawn, and Edison Schools. She retired in 1986. She was recognized for her dedication to education when she received the lifetime achievement award from the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. She loved teaching in the Danville Schools and working with its children and staff. She married Wayne Arnold Denman, son of Jay Q. and Ella Arnold Denman of East Lynn, on June 5,1948, at St. Paulss Church. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2002, after 54 years of marriage. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who could always be counted upon for guidance and support. She was the proud mother of three children Mark Denman, Gregory (Janet Gutterridge) Denman, and Ann Denman (William ) Blair, all of Danville. her five grandchildren were the light of her life: Jay and Timothy Wayne OBlenis and Marjorie, Mark, and Judith Denman, all of Danville. she is also survived by a brother, Harold J. Klaman, Danville and three nieces: Kim Klaman (Duanne) Webber, Danville; Diane (Rogers) Brackmann, St Charles; and Alice Sue (the late David) Montgomery, Washington, PA. She also leaves behind a number of close friends with whom she played bridge, socialized, and traveled. A funeral Mass at St. Pauls Catholic Church will be held at 10:00a.m.on Wednesday, May 30th with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery. Officiating Fr. Robert Hoffman. Visitation from 4-8:00pm Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with a Wake service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Wayne and Marjorie Denman Scholarship in care of Danville Community Public School Foundation.
