Marion R. 'Marty' Hazel

SIDELL - Marion R. Marty Hazel, 72, passed away at 5:12pm, Thursday, December 6th, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on November 16th, 1935, in Sturgis, KY, the son of Caleb and Dora (DeBose) Hazel, both deceased. He married Gisela E. Trede on November 30th, 1960, in Germany. She will miss him dearly. Others who will miss him include: his children, Kai (Leann) Hazel of Dana, IN, and Kelly (Lani) Hazel of Champaign; his special family, Butch (Julie) Buesing of Perrysville, IN; his grandchildren, Kai Hazel II, Cameron Bradly Hazel, Devon Wayne Gay, Kirsten Ann Hazel, Haley Buesing, & Molly Buesing; his soon-to-be grandchild, Lori Li; his brother, Edward Earl (Maranna) Hazel of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister, Lillian Owen of Phoenix, AZ; and his many nieces & nephews. His seven siblings preceded him in death. Marty graduated from Sturgis High School in Kentucky. He served in the US Air Force during 1953-61. He had been stationed in Georgia, Texas, England, & Germany. He was a Journeyman in the Iron Works Local 380 of Urbana, IL, from where he retired. For twenty years, he and his wife would spend their winters on Mustang Island, Texas. In his spare time, Marty enjoyed building projects and working on cars. As per his wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Martys family plans a Memorial Service at a later date. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
