Marilyn J. Young

Marilyn Young of Danville passed away on September 26, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1946 to Glen and Jeanette List. She married Kenneth E. Young on September 21, 1963. They had 2 children Joy (Mark) Mason of South Carolina, and Crystal (Jeremy) Swinson of Fairmount. She had three grandsons Austin Mason of South Carolina, Noah (Courtney) Mason of Springfield IL, and Ethan Swinson of Fairmount. She has one brother still living Michael (Carolyn) List. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Maurice List.

Marilyn attended Central Bible College and John Logan College where she got her associate's degree in accounting. Marilyn worked for Danville School District for 38 years in the bookkeeping and as Treasurer for 18 years before retiring. Marilyn and Kenneth ministered many churches throughout their years together. They celebrated recently over 50 years of ministering at Hillery Assembly of God of Danville.

Marilyn loved to travel, cook, and sew. She also loved making beautiful quilts that many family members have been blessed with over the years.

A special thank you to Kim Swinson who became a good friend in the last several years of her life. They had many special times together especially when Marilyn was wheelchair bound.

A visitation will be held from 4 – 6 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the Hillery Assembly of God, located at 19454 Henning Road in Danville. Mark List will officiate.
