Marilyn Wiedenhoeft, 92, of Urbana, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Clark Lindsey Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Urbana. She was born on August 18, 1923 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Lee and Hazel M. {Long} Hitchens. On April 2, 1960, Marilyn was wed to Richard Wiedenhoeft in Danville, until his passing in January of 1992. Marilyn worked as a phone operator during WWII. She was loving, kind, and supportive. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, collecting salt dips and travel, especially cruises with her two daughters. She loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by: her daughters, Sandra Harper of Gainesville, FL, Linda (John) Miller of Danville, & Tracy (Chris) Ermold of Erie, CO; her six grandchildren, Stacey Harper, Christy White, Patti Bond, James Miller, Jenny Miller, & Heather Ellis; her 9 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt Emma Hitchens. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, January 18, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Danville, with Pastor Doug Knapp officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 11:00am prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
