Marilyn Sue O'Hara

Urbana - Marilyn Sue O'Hara, 58, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018. She was born on October 23, 1959 in LaHarp, IL to James and Ruth (Froehlich) O'Hara. Marilyn is survived by her parents; children Emilio Ruiz, Nathaniel Ruiz, Christopher Ruiz, and Alex Ruiz; siblings Jerry O'Hara, Dan O'Hara, LaVonne Dunetts, Patrick O'Hara, Catherine O'Hara, Brenda O'Hara, and Christi O'Brien; and fianc Jeffrey D. Brawn. Marilyn loved her family very much. She enjoyed cooking, reading, biking, and hiking. She worked extremely hard and passionately and always put others before herself. She attended Centennial High School and then earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois. She studied spatial epidemiology and earned her PhD in Geography from the University of Florida. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. A private service will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Marilyn's honor may be directed to the University of Illinois Foundation for the College of Veterinary Medicine at 1305 W. Green St., Urbana, IL.
