DANVILLE - Marilyn Marie {Cooper) Swisher, 76, passed away at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 3, 2014. She was born on December 28, 1937, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Glenn and Marie {Sparks} Cooper, both deceased. On June 23, 1956, in Westville, IL, she was united in marriage to Robert Swisher until his passing on July 22, 2008. Marilyn was a homemaker who was out-going and never knew a stranger. She took great pride in her home, yard, & family. She was creative and could make something out of nothing and was a great cook. She was a member of the Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a active member of the DHS Class of 1956. Marilyn was known to her family as the “Best Back Tickler” and their #1 Cheerleader. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Marilyn is survived by: her children, Robert (Rhonda) Swisher of Robinson, IL, Darren (Angela) Swisher of Lumberton, TX, & Kathy (Tim) Robinson of Danville; her grandchildren, Aubrey (Brian) Carpenter of Danville, Taylor & Chelsea Robinson, both of Danville, Cody Swisher of Puyallup, WA, Lauren, Bailee, Alexa, & Chloe Swisher, all of Lumberton, TX; her great grandchildren, Cooper, Camden, Callan, & Caryss Marie Carpenter, all of Danville and a great grandchild expected in June; her Aunt & Uncle, Beverly & Burr Brazas of Westville; and her sisters-in-law, Jen Cooper of Elkhart, IN, & June Kopacz of Danville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard. A celebration of Marilyns life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 8, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home, Danville, with Jan Reeder officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 1pm-4pm at the funeral home. She will be interred in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in Marilyns name to Danville Public School Foundation.
