Marilyn Kay Mingee

Marilyn Kay Mingee, 74, of Champaign, formerly of Danville, passed away at 8:12 a.m. Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Marilyn was born on July 12th, 1937, in Danville, the daughter of Kenton and Marie (Fenet) Walker. She married Wayne W. Mingee on June 30th, 1955, in Shawneetown, Illinois. He survives. She is also survived by two daughters- Cheryl A. Hayden of Tilton and Debra K. (Tom) Millikan of Savoy, Illinois; four grandchildren- Chasity (Shawn) Schmidt of Catlin, Cory L. (Jennifer) Allen of Champaign, Amy (Jim) Keller of Richmond, North Carolina and Ryan (Chelsie) Elmer of Mahomet; six great-grandchildren; niece- Cindy (Buzzy) Hall of Danville; and her beloved pet- Chloe. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers- Ronald Walker and Richard Walker. Marilyn graduated from Danville High School in 1955. She worked in the financial services department for Carle Clinic, as a Medicare representative for over 20 years, until she retired. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Marilyn enjoyed knitting, crafts and reading. She was also an avid Illini fan. Marilyn's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. A Celebration of the life of Marilyn Kay Mingee will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Randy Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park following the services.
