Marilyn Sue Hawkins, 87, of Danville, passed away at 6:42pm, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 4, 1935, in Danville, the daughter of Ernest and Marie {Elliott} Cope, both deceased. She was married to Robert Hawkins in 1961. He preceded her in death 2012. She will also be missed by her children, Randy Deffenbaugh, Rodney (Malea) Deffenbaugh, Tammy Hawkins (Tony Barham) & Robert Hawkins Jr.; her six grandchildren; her nineteen great grandchildren; her two great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Don Cope. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tom Deffenbaugh; one grandchild; her seven sisters and three brothers. Marilyn was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, mushroom hunting, and baking, especially zucchini bread. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting Casinos. Above all, she loved to have her grandkids around her and will be dearly remembered by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Marilyns life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, January 20, 2023 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to donors choice of charity.
