Marilyn Louise (Cox) McCubbin

Marilyn Louise (Cox) McCubbin, 93, of Danville, IL passed away at 12:45 AM on January 24, 2026 at Goldwater Care in Danville, IL.

Marilyn was born the daughter of Marrold and Kathleen (Webster) Cox on October 10, 1932 in New Goshen, IN. She married Harold Eugene “Tony” McCubbin on October 7, 1951 and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1996.

Survivors include her children, Brad (Carol) McCubbin, Lisa Neal and Patricia (David) Floyd, grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bryce) McMorris, Rachel Jones, Eric (Amanda) McCubbin, Micah (Tiffany) McCubbin, Daisy Floyd and Lilly Floyd, great grandchildren, Kaleb, Avery, Hope, Damion, Millie, Emma, Ava and Maxleigh, as well as her sister, Janet Hoover and brother, James (Joyce) Cox.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Harold Eugene “Tony:” McCubbin.

Marilyn attended McKinley School, Washington Grade School, graduated from Danville High School in 1950 and took courses at Danville Area Community College. She worked at Woolworth’s (5 & Dime), R&S Printing for seven years and was a Home Interiors and Gifts representative for 25 years. Marilyn was very active at her church, East Park Church of Christ. She taught Thursday School for 29 years, taught young children for 22 years and was a song leader, singing with the Mother Singers. She also sang for weddings and funerals with her husband, “Tony” as well as her brother and sister.

Marilyn loved gardening, was a Master Gardener and belonged to two garden clubs, the Home Extension Unit in Bismarck, IL.

Over the years, Marilyn made teddy bears with a group of ladies each month for children in the hospital, enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles, sending cards of encouragement to those with birthdays, anniversaries, illness or were homebound. She was a friend with everyone she met and was a great inspiration to her children.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026 at East Park Church of Christ in Danville, IL, 1224 East Voorhees Street, Danville, Illinois 61832 Gary Baird will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2026 at the church with the memorial service to follow.
