Mariland Beatrice Morris

Champaign - Mariland "Muggy" Beatrice Morris, 83, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home in Champaign, IL. She was born on January 17, 1935 in Mansfield, IL to Golden and Nina (Whitehurst) Brooks. Mariland married Curtis Dwight Morris on October 20, 1962 in Virginia. Mariland is survived by her children Debbie (Pat) Besser, Nyla Brown, and Jorja (Pete) Johnson; grandchildren Brooke, Amy, April, Curtis, Billy, and Josh; great-grandchildren Stanley Rae, Sierra, Sean, Mychelle, Myleah, Myka, and Aubrie; siblings Glenna Blackwell, Gayle Keagle, and Pat Keagle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son George Gyle Thomas; grandson Michael Besser; siblings Bob Brooks, Jim Brooks, Clarene Currid, and Neena Keagle. A celebration of Mariland's life will be held at 10am on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the funeral home.
