Marietta Welge

Marietta (Dunlap) Welge, age 61, of Danville, formerly of Urbana, passed away at 1:55 am on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born January 5, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Roy and Marcella (Prasun) Dunlap. Marietta married Gary Michael Welge on July 8, 1967 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Taylorville. He survives. She is also survived by her mother; one daughter: Susan Marie McNew and three grandsons: Aidan, Collin, Ryan. She was preceded in death by her father. Marietta attended night classes at Anoka-Ramsey Community College and received her Associates of Arts Degree with a 4.0 grade point average. She worked for TDS Telecom in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota and Christie Clinic in Champaign. She enjoyed spending time pontooning on Gull Lake in Northern Minnesota and setting on her screen porch watching the water. She liked to watch figure skating. Marietta was a fan of Nascar and her favorite driver was Tony Stewart. A celebration of the life of Marietta Welge will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Father Ted Pracz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Funeral Home.
