WESTVILLE- Marie Ost Summers, 91, of Westville, passed away at 6:10pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton. She was born on June 25, 1914, in Westville, the daughter of William and Mary (Notar) Rippon. Both her parents precede her in death. Marie married William Doc Ost on August 30, 1942, in Westville. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1966. She later married John Summers on May 26, 1984. He also preceded her in death on January 17, 1991. Survivors include: her nephew, Gary (Sandy) Rippon of Clayton, NC; her great nephew, Dr. Greg (Jill) Rippon of Wynnewood, PA; her great niece, Wendy Rippon of Clayton, NC; and her great-great niece, Haley E. Rippon of Wynnewood, PA. She will be missed by all that new her. Her brother-William H. Rippon Jr. and her sister-in-law-Alice Rippon preceded Marie in death. Marie was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of Westville, where she was a very active member of the Womens Fellowship Organization, a member of the Church Council, and served on the Funeral Dinner Committee, as well as volunteering wherever she was needed. Marie retired from the Civil Service on September 3, 1984 after serving 39 faithful years at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as secretary in the Artillery Intelligence Course and also at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL, as secretary in the Missile Training Section. She enjoyed working with flowers, yard work, and was very faithful working for the church. A funeral service for Mrs. Marie Summers is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Trinity United Church of Christ located at 311 Moses Ave in Westville. The Rev. Phil Jackson will be officiating. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville following the service. Visitation will be held between 6-8pm on Friday, March 24, 2006 at Sunset Souths Westville Chapel.
