Mariano (Mario) Caballero Pintor, 83, last residing in Danville, IL since1990, passed away as he slept at about 4:15AM at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL on Monday July 28, 2025.
Mario was born on July 21, 1942 the son of Jovino Caballero Morales and Leonor Pintor De Gracia in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico where he married Rosario De La Cruz Gómez on September 13, 1969. After settling into life in Illinois, they continued to celebrate their union for 40 yrs before she preceded him in death on March 17, 2009.
Aside from his wife, Mariano is also preceded in death by his parents, his second son Elioenaú and several siblings including his beloved brother Antonio and two of his sisters that adored him Providencia and, earlier this year, Gladys Nilda.
Surviving are his two youngest sisters, Marta and Lourdes Milagros of Puerto Rico where his half-brother Israel Pintor Arce also still resides. His surviving children are Mario Jr, Euodias (Jose Cardona), and Euraclido along with four grandchildren (Kelsey, Noah, Nicholas and Euraclido II) and two great grandchildren (Carson and Lillie). He also had more than 10 nieces and nephews that will remember him fondly.
Mariano voluntarily served this country while in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era. Afterward, he mainly held Civil Service positions; his last was as Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service where he retired from in 1995.
For the next 30 years after retirement, Mariano increased his activities as a dedicated Jehovah’s Witnesses since July of 1981; helping many learn the Bible Truths through out the years. Many truly loved him as a grandpa, uncle, father, and brother; too many to name but those know who they are.
Mario also enjoyed spending his free time listening to music as well as writing letters to family and friends. Mario was a social butterfly and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends talking for hours including plenty of “dad jokes”.
Visitation was held in private with family only on Tuesday July 29, 2025 prior to Mario’s Cremation.
Commemoration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 3PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 619 E. Vorhees St. Danville, IL 61832 Officiant will be doing talk in Spanish. Any memorials or flowers can be made to this location and time.
Burial of remains will be in Sunset Memorial Park at a later time with family present only.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
