Marianne Baldwin

Marianne Baldwin (née Larrance) passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Chrisman, Illinois, with her devoted husband by her side. Born on March 28, 1952, in Danville, Illinois, Marianne lived a life deeply rooted in family, hard work, and the simple yet profound joys of rural living.

On November 25, 1972, at Ridge Farm Friends Church, she married the love of her life, Steven Baldwin. Together, they shared 53 years of unwavering love, faith, and devotion to one another, building a life centered on family, commitment, and enduring partnership.

Marianne’s journey began on the family farm, where a strong work ethic and a love of the land were nurtured from an early age. She carried those values into her adulthood, spending years farming alongside her loved ones and embracing all the challenges and triumphs that came with it. Her dedication didn’t stop at the fields—Marianne also served as a cook for the Georgetown School District, where her warmth touched countless students and staff, and her meals became a comfort to many.

Anyone who sat at Marianne’s table knew she had a gift for baking; desserts were her specialty, ranging from cookies to pies to cakes, always baked with a generous measure of love. Her kitchen was always alive with laughter and the aroma of something wonderful cooling on the windowsill. She cherished the traditions of gardening and canning, tending to her garden with the same nurturing spirit she showered on her family.

Marianne found joy in life’s adventures. She and her husband never needed a set route or strict plan when they traveled—together, they delighted in discovering new places, letting the road unravel before them. It was the mountains, though, that forever held her heart, their sweeping views reflecting her own steadfast spirit.

Her love for the outdoors was boundless, whether she was mushroom hunting in the woods, mowing the grass beneath the summer sun, or simply watching the seasons change from her yard. Marianne also had a soft spot for animals and was especially fond of the many dogs who shared her journey through the years.

Above all, Marianne was a loving and present grandmother, her heart full as she watched her grandchildren shine in their extracurricular activities. She took great pride and delight in their achievements, big and small, cheering them on from the sidelines and in everyday moments alike.

Those who now mourn her loss include her husband, Steve Baldwin, who was her partner and confidant in all things. She leaves her daughter Heather (Chris) Woelich, her son Alan (Ashley) Baldwin, and her beloved grandchildren: Steven Woelich, Elizabeth Woelich, Grace Baldwin, Charlie Baldwin, and Ellie Baldwin. Marianne’s circle of love extended to her sister Kathy (Bill) Semmens, her brother Ron (Mary) Norenberg, special friend / first cousin Linda Garver, and dear friends Susie Glascott and Sherry Tutwiler, all of whom will miss her deeply.

Marianne was preceded in death by her father, Dale Larrance, her mother, Betty 'Smith' Larrance, her son, Craig Baldwin, and her brother, Robert Larrance. Their memories remain intertwined with hers, a tapestry of love, laughter, and remembrance.
