Mariann Martin

Mariann Martin, 79, of Covington, passed away at 12:45pm, Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Ben Hur Health & Rehabilitation Center, Crawfordsville, Indiana. She was born on February 15, 1942, in Danville, IL, the daughter of George T. and Freda F. {Crane} Boord. She was first married to Donald L. Lang on November 21, 1959. She was later married to Teryl D. Martin on August 18, 1979. She will be dearly missed by her children, Kevin T. (Tami) Lang of Veedersburg, Patty M. (Brad) Smith of Covington, & Sarah A. Martin (Jason Vess) of Covington; her grandchildren, Jake (Ashlee) Gritten of Covington, Derrick (LaShawna) Lang of Noblesville, Katie (Joshua) Blaydes of Madison, WI, Joshua Lang of Veedersburg, Zoie Martin (Cole Lawlyes) of Covington, & Ezrah Roop of Covington; and her great grandchildren, Joshua Gritten, Elijah Blaydes, Landyn Lang, & Logyn Lang. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Boord and sister-in-love, Patricia Boord. She worked many places including, Cardinal Caf, Grab-It-Here Store both in Veedersburg, and General Electric in Danville, IL. She later owned and operated Greeks Pizza in Covington, as well as Matron at Fountain County Jail. She served her community when she was elected as Clerk for Fountain County from 1997 to 2007 and then later served as deputy clerk from 2007 to 2013 when she retired. She has also served on the Troy Township Advisory Board and as Treasurer of Veedersburg Alumni Association. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Covington. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Fountain County Republican Women. She loved her family and enjoyed spending her time with them. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will live on through her family and friends in the memories made with them. A celebration of Marianns life will be held at 6:00pm (EST), Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 with Pastor Joey Emerick officiating. Visitation will be held 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday prior to her service at the funeral home. She was accorded cremation rites and will later be laid to rest in Osborne Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in her name to Covington Food Pantry, Paws N Claws of Attica, and First Church of Christ.
