Marian Berthold, 92, of Danville, passed away at Provena Hospital in Urbana on Wednesday December 5, 2012 at 10:56 PM. Marian was born on September 14, 1920 to Adolph and Maude (Schimmel) Schultz in Danville. She married Eugene A. Berthold on October 19, 1941 in Danville; he preceded her in death on September 5, 1973. Marian is survived by two sons - Terry (Jeanette) Berthold of Troutville, VA and Thomas (Janice) Berthold of Saratoga, CA; three grandchildren - Todd Berthold of Bristol, TN, Timothy Berthold of Miami, FL, and Alison Smith of Buellton, CA; one step great grandchild - J.V. Allison of Roanoke, VA; two brothers - Ralph Schultz and Alvin Schultz of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Eugene. Marian graduated from Danville High and went on to work as a secretary and administrative assistant at Leverenz Memorials and Ray O'Herron Company. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active with the Eunice Society. Marian loved cooking and playing cards as well as spending time with her many friends. Her grandchildren were the joy and love of her life. God blessed her with a wonderful family and she will be greatly missed by them. A celebration of Marian's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday December 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 pm also at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville.
