Maria K. Boyd

Danville - Maria K. Boyd, 88, of Danville passed away peacefully at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Maria was born the daughter of Johann and Ann Kehr in Germany on October 10, 1926. Maria married the love of her life Lawrence in Germany in 1958, he precedes her in death having passed on May 5, 1977. Maria is survived by her dearest friend and the daughter that she never had but always wanted, Debbie (Jeff) Goin of Danville; her faithful friend Ladi Smith of Covington, IN; and her brother and several nieces and nephews in Germany. Maria is preceded in death by her parents Johann and Ann, her husband Lawrence, and her sister. Maria was a caring and selfless lady. When she was only 16, she worked for the Red Cross as a disaster relief worker. She had to retire due to health reasons in 2000, but enjoyed every minute of it. After Maria married Lawrence in 1958, the two traveled the world together with Lawrences Civil Service until settling their home in Covington, Indiana in 1972, where she became good friends with her neighbor Ladi. Maria was also a lifetime member of the Danville Boat Club. The friends and family of Maria would like to extend a special “thank you” to Jack and Kay Meers for all their help. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a life celebration home in Danville. Services will be officiated by Pastor Matt Filicsky. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
