Margot Johnson, 96, of Westville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her home.
She was born August 4, 1927, in Ostheim, Germany, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Emma (Radtke) Baumann.
She married Fred "Pappy" Johnson on October 16, 1948, in Ostheim, Germany, and he preceded her in death in December 1995.
She is survived by her daughters: Anita Fridmanski and Barbara Johnson (Steve Pataki) ; her grandchildren: Michael (Susanne) Fidler, Eric (Samantha) Fridmanski and Amy Fridmanski (Brian Gum) her great-grandchildren: Emerson Fridmanski, Samantha Fidler and Catherine Fidler; and one niece, Regina Roschmann.
Margot was preceded in death by her husband, one son: Marion Johnson, one sister: Anni Dahn; a son-in-law: Robert Fridmanski and one niece: Margot Nelles.
Margot moved to the United States after marrying the love of her life and enjoying 46 years together. In her early years, she worked for Meis Brothers and also for H&R Block before becoming an independent tax agent for several years. She was a life member of the Central Park Church of Christ, VFW 728 Auxiliary Post in Danville, Illinois, a member of the German American Club "DANK" and spent many years volunteering for the VA Medical Center in Danville along with CRIS Senior Services and AARP. She had a love for all children and spent many years giving love to kids as a foster parent. In 2012 she was inducted in the Hall of Fame in appreciation of her outstanding service to bowling. When she wasnt at the bowling alley, she also enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling and gardening. Her travels took her all over the world to Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Italy, France, Monaco, Costa Rica, Jamacia, St Thomas, the Panama Canal, Bermuda, Austria, Yugoslavia and back home to Germany. She also enjoyed her trips to Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands.
The family would like to thank the OSF Hospice Team: Joanna, Emma, Sarah, Roxanne, Amy, Laura and Rita for the exceptional care they gave Margot and the compassion they showed during their time of need.
A Graveside Service will be held for Margot at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery 3901 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 2PM with Pastor James Blue officiating.
Memorials in Margots name may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
